Staff Reporter :
Students seeking admission into public medical colleges on Sunday demanded cancellation of the admission test results of MBBS and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) as what claimed that question papers of the tests were leaked.
They also threatened to go for tougher programmes,if their demands were not met.
They said this at a rally held in front of the National Press Club under the banner of ‘Students Seeking Admission in Public Medical Colleges.’
The students also brought out rallies across the country protesting the question papers leakage and demanding retaking of the tests.
“The questions of the tests, held on Friday, were leaked the night before and circulated on social networking sites,” Hasibul Hossain, convener of the platform, told The New Nation on Sunday.
The demonstrators, holding up posters, claimed some admission seekers got the leaked questions in exchange for money on Thursday night, while others received them in the morning of the exam day.
A candidate from Comilla said, “An unknown person called me just before the test and told me to give him Tk 2 lakh for question papers with solutions. I denied him to get that. But when I entered the examination hall, I saw that some of the candidates got the question papers a day before. I also got the questions from some of my friends after the test.”
“Many of the meritorious students will be denied admission because of this leakage. We have studied hard for this test, but all our hard work and effort will be in vain,” the candidate said.
Shamim Hasan, another admission aspirant, said that the syndicate of the question papers leakage swarmed the papers on Facebook, Viber, and WhatsApp before the exam.
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Jahid Malek announced the admission test results of MBBS and BDS with a pass rate of 58.4 percent at a press briefing at the Health Ministry conference room on Sunday.
