The students seeking retake of the medical and dental college admission tests began ‘fast unto death’ on the premises of the Central Shaheed Minar though the medical and dental colleges completed admission process.
The admission seekers began the fast from Wednesday morning and vowed to continue their programme until the realization of their demand.
Around 80 students, their guardians and physicians started the hunger strike at about 10am.
Farzana Sathi, an admission seeker, told The New Nation that they would not stop the movement until the goal was achieved.
“My aim in life was to become a doctor. But I became surprised on the day of the test, hearing that some of our friends bought question papers on the previous night of the test. Some of them have already got themselves admitted in different colleges. But I am now on the street,” Sathi said.
Nazmul Ahsan, another admission-seeker, said, “I also wanted to be a doctor. That is why, I was preparing myself from class eight. But some moments changed my life. I have lost everything. So we will continue our hunger strike unto death.”
A guardian seeking anonymity told this correspondent that our question is how will the government develop the country, when it cannot stop leaking of question papers of different examinations, he asked.
The medical admission tests were held on September 18. The students have been continuing protests since then urging a retake of the examinations bringing allegations that questions of admission test were leaked.
