He mentioned it while addressing the inaugural ceremony of an workshop titled ‘Issue based Journalism on climate financing and Recognition of Women Farmers Contribution’ at a city posh hotel on Tuesday as moderator of the workshop.
He said once media used to monitor only now it indicates ways and means.
He said there is three prime tasks of the journalists viz. to apprise the information, depict the voice of the mass and watching the situation . A local NGO named SAMASTI organised the workshop with patronization of Oxfam.
Journalists from Chittagong , Cox’sBazar, Rangamati and Noakhali participated the workshop. Joint Secretary of Chittagong Press Club Chowdhury Farid was present on the inaugural session as guest.
Mir Shahidul Alam and Rezaul Hoque of SAMASTI conducted the workshop.
The workshop discuss the matter of global warming and affects of climate change and presented the negative sides of the climate change. the workshop also discussed the indiscriminate hill cutting, environment pollution, tidal surge , salinity, unprotected embankment in coastal areas and the necessity of capital dredging in Karnaphuli River and Kaptai Lake.
The participants in their opinions emphasized the need for proper utilization of the fund of Climate Trust Fund for the victims of Roanu cyclone recently occurred in chittagong coxsbazar coastal areas, Ngo sources said.
