MC College Gang rape 3 more accused confess before court

Three more accused in the case filed over the gang rape of a woman at Murari Chand (MC) College gave their confessional statements to a Sylhet court on Saturday.
Amullya Bhusan Chowdhury, assistant commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, confirmed the matter to media.
Of the three, Rajon gave his confessional statement before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ziadur Rahman.
Metropolitan Magistrates Saifur Rahman and Sharmin Khanom Nila recorded statements of Ainuddin and Rony.
Earlier, police produced the trio- Shah Mahbubur Rahman Rony, Rajon Mia and Ainuddin before the court at around 1pm, said Jyotirmoy Sarker, additional deputy commissioner (media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP).
On Friday, three other suspects, including the key accused Saifur Rahman, Arjun Laskar and Rabiul Hasan, had also confessed to their crimes in the same court.
On September 25, several perpetrators accosted a couple when the husband parked their car at MC college premises and got out of the vehicle in order to buy cigarettes, according to the case statement.
The aggressors initially began sexually harassing the woman and when the husband protested, the assailants dragged him into the college’s hostel. Afterwards, they raped the woman inside the car, while her husband was bound inside the hostel, the case details further mentions.
The following day, the victim’s husband started a case with Shah Poran police against nine people.
Later police raided the hostel and seized a gun, four machetes, a knife and two makeshift arms from Saifur’s room, said Shahparan Police OC Abdul Kaiyum Chowdhury.
Among the accused in the case, Rony, Mahfuzur Rahman Masum and Arjun are master’s students at the Department of English.
Apart from them, Robiul and Tarek Ahmed were Chhatra League activists from outside the college.
