The Mercantile Bank Limited is going to award the ‘Mercantile Bank Citation-2018 to 5 eminent persons of the country for their contribution in self sector and the MBL Young Bankers’ Appreciation Award to 5 young bankers for their professionalism in relevant sector.
“We are happy to felicitate some brilliant persons in our country for their extraordinary contribution in self sector. It is the continuation of our regular Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities” AKM Shaheed Reza, Chairman of Mercantile Bank Limited, said while he speaking at a press conference marking the programme at the banks head office in city on Thursday. The programme will be held at the Hotel Sonargoan tomorrow where the Commerce Minister Tofai Ahmed will hand over the award.
The nominated awardees for citation this year are poet Nirmalendu Goon for Education and Culture, Jahanara Imam (dawn) for Freedom Fighter and Liberation War based Research, Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Atiur Rahman for Economics and Economics based research, Mostafa Kamal of Meghna Group Industries for Commerce and Industry and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza for Sports respectively.
Besides the bank also going to start a new recognition programe named ‘MBL Young Bankers’ Appreciation Award’ from this year for the young and dynamic bankers of all private banks in the country to encourage them. The selected young bankers for the awardees are Fayez Uddin Ahmed, Senior Principal Officer of First Security Islami Bank Limited, Md. Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, First Assistant Vice-President of Trust Bank Limited, Md, Rajon Mia, First Assistant Vice-President of Mercantile Bank Limited, Md. Riazul Haque, Senior Executive Officer of Bank Asia Limited and Mohammad Anowar Hossain, Principal Officer of AB Bank Limited.
Kazi Masihur Rahman, Managing Director and CEO, Mosharref Hossain, Director, Md. Quamrul Islam Chowdhury, Mati Ul Hasan, Additional Managing Directors, Gaus-Ul-Wara Md. Mortaza, Md. Zakir Hossain and Adil Raihan, Deputy Managing Directors along with other senior officials of the bank were also present in the conference.
