Maximum priority on preventing community transmission of coronavirus taken

The civil administrations with assistance of the Armed Forces, police and other law enforcement agencies have put maximum priority on preventing community transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Rangpur division.
“We have put maximum priority on ensuring social distancing, restricting gathering, providing treatments to COVID-19 patients and food to jobless and needy people,” Additional Divisional Commissioner (General), Rangpur Zakir Hossain told media.
The Armed Forces, police RAB-13 and other law enforcement agencies, local government bodies and voluntary organisations are assisting the civil administrations to maintain social distancing and cope with the situation across the division.
“Maximum efforts have been engaged to inspire common people in remaining at home, abide by health directives of the government and maintain cleanliness and personal hygiene to prevent community transmission of COVID-19,” he added.
Meanwhile, a total of 3,057 people, out of total 3,481, have been released from home or institutional quarantine in Rangpur division after expiry of their 14-day quarantine period without any symptoms of COVID-19 infection till Monday.
Health officials said only 424 people are remaining in home and institutional quarantine today with release of more 1115 people during the last 24 hours in Rangpur division.
“Besides, 11 persons were put in the isolation units and seven of them released in the division where the COVID-19 situation still remains stable,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told media.
Meanwhile, 23 people have been put on home or institutional quarantine in the last 24 hours in the division where six people were tested COVID-19 positive and five of them are getting treatments at isolation units of local hospitals.
Rangpur Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Amin Ahmed Khan said the Armed Forces, police and RAB-13 are conducting hectic activities with the civil administrations to maintain social distancing for preventing community transmission COVID-19.
“We are increasing capacity to provide treatments to COVID-19 patients and have kept the Isolation Unit of Rangpur Medical College Hospital and many other hospitals and health services providing facilities ready to use as Corona Units,” he said.
