Tamaddun Majlish arranged a discussion meeting and prize giving ceremony on 21st February International Mother Language Day in the Bangladesh Photo Journalist Association Auditorium at Purana Paltan, Dhaka.
Presided over by Dr. Muhammad Siddique, the President of Tamaddun Majlish, the chief guest in the programme was eminent musician, writer Mustafa Zaman Abbasi and special guest was Language Veteran, thinker Prof. Muhammad Abdul Ghafur.
Language Veteran Principal Ashraf Faruqi has been awarded Tamaddun Majlish Matribhasha Padak 2019 for his contribution to the Movement. His son Mujtahid Faruqi received the award on behalf of his father lying in bed for old age complications. Some students were also given prizes on the basis of competition.
Language Veteran Prof. Chemon Ara, Poet Abdul Muqit Chowdhury, Abdul Awal Thakhur, Emdadul Haque Chowdhury, Dr. Ekramul Islam and Shahidul Islam delivered speech.
Shahabuddin Khan, General Secretary of Tammddun Majlish spoke on the occasion.
The speakers said, our Independence had its roots in the Language Movement’52, which finally led the Nation towards the Great War of Liberation.
