UNB, Dhaka :
Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury on Thursday urged the local poultry entrepreneurs to enhance their safe protein production for fulfilling the local demand and to explore markets abroad for export.
She has also said the present government would extend its all-out support to flourish the local poultry industry.
Matia Chowdhury was speaking at the inaugural session of the 9th International Poultry Show and Seminar at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city.
The World’s Poultry Science Association-Bangladesh Branch (WPSA-BB) organised the show.
Presided over by WPSA-BB President Moshiur Rahman, Agriculture Secretary Md Eunusur Rahman was present as the guest of honor. Shamsul Arefin Khaled, Director of Nourish Poultry, presented the keynote paper at the inaugural ceremony.
The agriculture minister said: “Few years back, the processed foods were imported in Bangladesh. It’s good news for the country that the local industry is now producing processed foods itself.”
About toxic feed production, she said the government is very much aware of the poultry feed production from the tannery wastes. “We’re working to clean such toxic manufacturers. As a result, consumers are now enjoying safe eggs and chicken.”
She urged the poultry industry to boost their production capacity through exchanging knowledge with the experienced international producers, encourage scientists to discover related technologies and apply proper marketing tools to expose the Bangladeshi poultry products in the global market.
