Believe it or not, Ocean Group’s Managing Director Khondoker Ali Azam Babla had managed fake certificates of all the public examinations, including honours and masters degrees. Even, he managed a fake PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) degree.
ACC sources said, Babla also managed a forged Freedom Fighter (FF) certificate. He did all these only for getting special facilities.
For this, the ACC filed a cheating case against him with Kotwali Police Stationon July 8 this year. Assistant Deputy Director of ACC Sarder Manzur Ahmad is investigating the case.
Babla was summoned by the ACC for quizzing on August 11 and August 23 at the Commission’s Headquarters. But showing his ignorance, he did not take part in quizzing on both the dates.
However, the Commission will send another letter to Babla for interrogation at its Headquarters, said the Investigation Officer of the case.
ACC sources said, Babla applied to Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka district for transferring a newspaper’s ownership from Md Asaduzzaman to his name in 2001. However, the ownership of Swadhinmat newspaper was shifted in 2003. It is now being published from the capital’s Banani area.
The sources said Babla submitted his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) mentioning that he passed the SSC examination from VJ Government Secondary School in Chuadanga in 1977. But the school authorities informed the ACC that no student named Babla got SSC degree from the school.
Babla mentioned in his application that he passed BBA and MBA from Management Department of Dhaka University. But the Dhaka University informed the ACC that his certificates are fake.
He also submitted a fake PhD degree where he mentioned that he attained the degree from Florida University in USA. He also showed a Freedom Fighter certificate to the ACC. But the ACC’s investigation found that his all certificates are fake.
The ACC Chairman, M Badiuzzaman, told The New Nation on Monday that the Commission would send another letter to Babla to attend in quizzing. “If he does not take part in the quarry, the Sommission will take stern action against him,” he said.
