Massive victory for Comilla Victorians

Comilla Victorians composed a massive 71-run victory over Sylhet Super Stars in their Twenty20 cricket match of the 3rd Bangladesh Premier League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday.
After yesterday’s outcome, Comilla Victorians bagged 14 points from 10 matches while Sylhet Super Stars remained with six points from as many matches. Sylhet Super Stars failed to move into the semifinals of the 3rd edition of the Bangladesh Premier League.
Sent into bat first, Comilla Victorians piled up a healthy 150 for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then they bundled out Syhet Super Stars for 79 off 13.5 overs.
Comilla Victorians had a shaky start as they lost opener Liton Das (4) when Comilla’s total was just seven.
Then opener Imrul Kayes and Ahmed Shehzad salvaged their team from early debacle contributing together 68 runs before Ahmed Shehzad was trapped leg before wicket by Rubel Hossain when Comilla’s score was 75 for the loss of two wickets.
Ahmed Shehzad hit a marvelous 42. His 31-ball innings was ornamented with five fours and a sixer. Ahmed Shehzad was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding batting performance.
After dismissal of Shehzad, opener Imrul Kayes was caught and bowled by Shahid Afridi when Comilla’s total was 86 for the loss of three wickets.
Then Alok Kapali and Ashar Zaidi rescued their team adding together 56 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Ashar Zaidi was run out by Mushfiqur Rahim when Comilla’s score was 142 four the loss of four wickets.
Alok Kapali remained unbeaten with 32. His 26-ball innings was belted with two sixes and one four.
Ashar Zaidi made 31 from 29 balls featuring two fours and a sixer while Imrul Kayes hit 27 off 28 balls including two fours and a six.
Mohammad Shahid, Shahid Afridi and Rubel Hossain took one wicket apiece.
Later, batsmen of Sylhet Super Stars failed to build any notable partnership. Sylhet lost their wickets in regular intervals.
Joshua Cobb, Mominul Haque and Junaid Siddique could reached the double-digit figures scoring 21, 15 (not out) and 10 runs respectively.
Shuvagata Hom, Ashar Zaidi and Andre Russell played the key role in wrecking Sylhet’s innings.
Shuvagata Hom grabbed three wickets at the cost of eight runs while Ashar Zaidi, Andre Russell bagged a pair of wickets each for four and nine runs respectively.
Besides, Abu Haidar and Naeem Islam (Junior) took one wicket each for 19 and 23 runs respectively.
