Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC), district administration and all others concerned have chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival for the Muslims, in the city with due fervor, joy and enthusiasm.
The main Eid jamaat (congregation) will be held on Shahmukhdum Central Eidgah Moidan at 8.30 am and Muhtamim of Jameya Islamia Shahmukhdum Maulana Shahadat Ali will conduct the prayer.
The second largest ones will be held at Shaheb Bazar Zero point and Tikapara Eidgah at the same time.
Some other main Eid jamaats will be held at Tikapara Eidgah Moidan, Rajshahi Court Eidgah, Rajshahi Stadium, Shalbagan Eidgah, Rajshahi University, New Market Jame Mosque, Police Line Math, Upashahar Eidgah Moidan and Rajarhata Jame Mosque.
Over 150 Eid-ul-Fitr jamaats are scheduled to be held at the traditional and temporary venues in the Rajshahi metropolis under the supervision of the respective Eid jamaat committee.
To make the city’s Eid congregations successful, Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) is facilitating necessary decoration arrangement to around 70 Eid jamaats.
The RCC, local administration and some of the Eid jamaat committee sources said preparations are almost complete under the auspices of all the authorities concerned.
Besides, the city corporation will decorate all the main city roads and islands with national flags and banners inscribed with “Eid-Mubarak” in Bangla and Arabic.
Marking the celebration, special diets will be served to the inmates of different hospitals, jails and Government Shishu Sadan.
Meanwhile, a three-tier security arrangement has been adopted for the Rajshahi city and its adjacent areas for peaceful celebration of the Eid-ul-Fitr.
According to sources of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) and district police, the additional security measures will be in place a day ahead of Eid and continue for next three days.
Besides deployment of additional forces, detective vigilance was intensified at all the shopping malls and busiest market points.
All the entry points of the city like Katakhali, Naodapara and Kasiadanga were brought under tight security measures.
Necessary instruction was also given to find suspicious persons at any points during the celebration.
Similar reports of adopting elaborate programmes to celebrate the Eid received here from the districts of Chapainawabganj, Naogaon, Natore, Pabna, Sirajganj, Bogra and Joypurhat districts in Rajshahi division.
BSSfrom Rangpur adds: Preparation have been completed for celebrating the greatest religious festivity of the Muslims Eid-ul-Fitr and holding congregations at over 1,000 Eidgahs amid tight security measures this time in the district.
Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC), district and police administrations have completed all preparations to hold the main Eid-ul-Fitr jamaat at Rangpur Collectorate Eidgah Maidan at 8 am on the Eid day.
Alternatively, the main Eid-ul-Fitr congregations will be held twice at Rangpur Court Jam-e-Mosque at 9:30 am and 10:30 am in the city if the weather remains unfavourable.
Besides, the first Eid-ul-Fitr congregation will be held at Police Line Ground in the city at 7:45 am.
The decisions were adopted in a special meeting held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner recently.
With Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar in the chair, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Gen) Dr ATM Mahbubul Karim and Additional Police Super ABM Zakir Hossain also addressed the meeting.
The meeting decided for holding the Eid-ul-Fitr congregation amid specially ensured security measures peacefully throughout the district, including the divisional city.
The national flag will be hoisted atop all government and private buildings, special munajats be offered at all Eid-ul-Fitr congregations, improved diets be served among inmates of the hospitals, orphanages, jail and Shishu Paribars on the Eid day.
Rangpur City Corporation will decorate the main streets with the national flag and various colourful flags bearing inscriptions ‘Eid Mubarak’ giving charming looks all around in the city.
City Mayor (State Minister) valiant freedom fighter Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu, Divisional Commissioner Kazi Hasan Ahmed, Deputy Inspector General for Rangpur Khondker Golam Faruk, Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar, Police Super Abdur Razzaque, high officials, political leaders, public representatives, academicians, journalists and professionals are expected to participate in the main congregations.
Like the previous years, the biggest Eid congregation will be held at Taluk Habu Eidgah Maidan under Gangachara upazila where nearly one lakh musollies are expected to take part.
The major Eid-ul-Fitr jamats will be held at Kamal Kachhna Eidgah at 9 am, Munshipara Eidgah at 9 am, Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque at 9:30 am, Mandalpara Baro Eidgah at 9:30 am, Damodarpur Baro Eidgah at 9:30 am, Mahiganj Shahi Jam-e-Mosque at 9 am and Aftabia Eidgah at 9 am.
Eid-ul-Fitr jamats will be held at Zila School Ground, Medical College Ground, Bahar Kachhna Eidgah, Koilash Ranjan School Ground, Carmichael College Ground, RCCI School & College Ground, Collectorate School and College Ground between 8 am and 9 am in the city.
Bigger Eid-ul-Fitr jamats will be held at Jummapara Korimiya Nurul Ulum Madrasha Ground, Nasirabad Ekramia Jam-e-Mosque, Khasbag Angur Mian Jam-e Mosque, Paschim Khasbag Charmatha Jam-e Mosque, Khotkhotia Forkania Madrasa Eidgah ground, Mulatol Madrasa and between 8 am and 9:30 am.
Besides, other bigger jamats will be held at Dhap Mohammadpur Jam- e Mosque, Sadar Hospital Jam-e Mosque, Shalban Mistripara Ground, Alamnagar Wakf Mosque, Keramotia Madrasa, Khasbag Jam-e Mosque, Damodarpur Chhoto Eidgah Ground, Nachnia Jam-e Mosque, Mahiganj College Ground, Mirbag Ramchandrapur Jam-e Mosque, Central Bus Terminal Jam-e Mosque and Satmatha Jam-e Mosque, in between 8am and 10 am.
Thousands of the Muslim devotees will take part in the Eid-ul-Fitr congregations and offer special prayers seeking divine blessings for continued peace, progress, tranquility and prosperity of the country, its people and the Muslim Ummah as a whole.
