Massive plan taken to cultivate winter vegetables in Dupchanchia

Winter vegetable growers are taking a massive plan to grow winter vegetables from the very onset of the season as it is more profitable within very short time in an easy way expending a little money.
Besides, the Department of Agriculture Extension has taken massive programme to cultivate winter vegetables in five union of the upazila of Bogra district during the current winter season.
 A vegetable grower Juwel inhabitant of upazila campus said The New Nation that he has taken o.2 acres of land under onion cultivation spending tk 1000 and I expect a bumper production from the land.” Abu Ishaque and Nazrul Islam said that if the weather rain favorable we will be success cultivating the expected vegetable from the land.”
DAE sources said that under the programme, a total of 54 hectares of land would be brought under the cultivation with the production target of 500 tonnes of winter vegetables.
DAE office sources again said, “The upazila is a suitable place for producing huge vegetables including cabbage, cauliflower, tomato, bean, radish, carrot, cucumber, brinjal and others during the winter season.” “Many farmers of the upazila have started showing their keen interest to bring their more lands under vegetable farming as they could easily get better yielding rate of the vegetables by reducing their production costs side by side with earning much profit, the upazila agriculture officer Tahirul Islam said.
 Deputy Director of DAE Bazlur Rashid said, “The DAE field workers have started rendering their field-level service to let the vegetable cultivators know about the modern methods of cultivation for achieving best yielding rate through lower production costs.”
