Massive plan taken for welfare of disabled

State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga said the present government had taken massive programmes for ensuring welfare of the disabled people.
“The physically challenged people must not be neglected and proper attention should be given to them for turning handicapped people into productive human resources by ensuring their participation in the national development process,” he said.
The state minister addressing a function as the chief guest at Gangachara Degree College ground in Gangachara upazila town in Rangpur on Tuesday afternoon. Rangpur Protibondhi Seba O Sahajjo Kendra (PSSK) arranged the function for providing mobile van therapy services to the disabled people.
With Gangachara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Aminul in the chair, Zila Paris ahd Member Shamsul Alam, Upazila Social Service Officer Mosaddekur Rahman, District Protibondhi Affairs Officer Taposh Kumar addressed the occasion, among others.
Mashiur Rahman Ranga said the present government had already set up many Protibondhi Seba O Sahajjo Kendra to provide the disabled population with mobile therapy free of costs for their rehabilitation throughout the country.
“Side by side providing allowances to physically challenged people, the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has also set up separate educational institutions along with the provision of inclusive education and special job quota for the disabled population,” he said.
The state minister called upon affluent people to come forward with
generous approaches for taking proper care of the disabled people to turn them into human resources.
“The physically challenged, autistic, mentally and intellectually retarded children are not at all burden of the families or society and they could do the same as the able people if they are provided with education and necessary training,” he said.
