3 BAEC officials among 4 killed in Savar road crash

Four people including three officials of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission were killed and 20 others injured in a triangular collision among two buses and a truck on the Dhaka-Aricha highway at Baliapur in the capital’s Savar on Sunday morning.
The victims were identified as engineer Kawsar Ahmmed Rabbi, Senior Scientific Officer Arifuzzaman, Scientific Officer Puja Sarker, also six month pregnant and the commission’s staff bus driver Rajib Hossain.
According to locals, a Dhaka-bound cow-laden truck hit a passenger bus from behind while the bus was taking U-turn on the highway around 9am. Later, another stuff bus of the commission hit the bus, leaving one dead on the spot and 20 others injured. After the incident, on information, fire service members rushed to the spot and sent the injured to different local hospitals where three others succumbed to their injuries.
Mominul Islam, Investigation-Officer (IO) of Savar Police Station, confirmed the matter to the New Nation saying that four bodies were kept at the hospital morgue under police custody.
The rest injured are being treated at various hospitals in Savar. No cases has been yet filed in the incident, he said.
