In Sirajganj, there have been allegations of massive irregularities in the implementation of the ’40-day job creation project ‘ for the employment of extremely poor. Project President UP members are showing more worker attendance by using fake names with less workers. Even with school children instead of laborers, heavy work like carrying soil is being done. The work of the 40-day job creation project of the employment program for the extremely poor implemented in Madhainagar Union of the upazila was seen on the spot on Monday, April 19.
Although the attendance of workers in the workplace was low, the attendance register showed 100 percent attendance. Child labor has been seen. In 5th, 6th class Educated boys and girls have been included in this project. Even though many of the names on the program list show up to work every day, they don’t know what the job creation project is all about!
In addition, 24 out of 34 people were present at the road construction project west of Abdul Aziz’s house in Jhurjhuri village, but 34 were shown in the attendance register. Although 34 people showed up in the attendance register for the landfill project at Kanchaneshwar Mosque, 22 people are actually working.
However, Ward Member Azahar Ali, acting president of the project, said seven people had taken leave. Poushar Asab’s house is being filled with 40 days of labor in the hole filling project. Although 23 workers are working here, there are 32 in the attendance register.
They were not found at the Kasta Paschim Para mosque at around 3pm during the soil filling project. When I met the workers in the street, they said 22 people had worked. Later, some workers in the project actually spoke to the project president ward member Ziaur Rahman in front of them. He said, “I am working according to the decision of the office.”
