Mass wave in favour of ‘Sheaf of Paddy’: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that a mass wave has been created in favour of ‘Sheaf of Paddy’.
He said this while carrying out electioneering in favour of their party’s mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Tabith Awal on Monday.
Fakhrul said, “The government cannot resist the mass wave already created in favour of the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ with its repressive acts.”
“The arrest and harassment of our leaders and activists is going on despite the announcement of the election schedule. But, people are giving tremendous response to us braving the arrest and harassment, manifesting a mass wave of people in favour of the ‘Sheaf of Paddy. No one will able to resist it,” he said.
The BNP Secretary General along with its DNCC mayoral candidate Tabith Awal started the election campaign from in front of Baitul Mosharraf Jaam-e-Mosque near Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in the city’s Mirpur area

around 10:30am. The BNP leader distributed leaflets and sought votes from the voters of all walks of life.
In a brief address there, Fakhrul said they have taken city polls as a challenge for mobilising public support to strength their movement for the release of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and ‘restoration’ of democracy.
He said, they have taken part in the election aiming to involve people with their ongoing movement and give it a final shape by organising people.
The BNP leader expressed his high hope that Tabith will win the polls slated for February 1.
Meanwhile, BNP’s mayoral candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Ishraque Hossain said that ruling party’s mayoral candidate criticized for my age. I urge to the young society, you will stay with me and exercise your franchise for me. We will show that young people can too.
He said it while electioneering for the eleventh day of the DCC polls in front of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) in Segunbagicha on Monday.
Ishraque Hossain urges the Dhaka residents to turn up at polling centres to restore democratic rights of the people.
“Dhaka has been turned into most polluted metropolis in the world, turning the least livable city into a suitable is on top his agneda,” Ishraque said.
