‘Mass-media role vital to country’s sustainable dev’

Speakers at a meeting unanimously mentioned that successful implementation of the ten special initiatives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina can be the effective means of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They also observed that role of the mass-media both print and electronics is very important towards highlighting the successes so far achieved of the special initiatives.
Successes in some fields like Ekti Bari Ekti Khamar, Ashrayan, Digital Bangladesh, Community Clinic and Mental Health, Education Support, Women empowerment, power for all and social safety net have become visible which are being adjudged as indicators of attaining sustainable development goals. The observations came in a view-sharing meeting with local journalists including editors of the local newspapers and other stakeholders titled “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Ten Special Initiatives” held on Tuesday at the conference hall of Curcuit House in Rajshahi.
Press Information Department (PID) organized the meeting disseminating success stories of the special initiatives in 10 major sectors including environmental development and investment-friendly atmosphere. Office Heads and their representatives who are working here for successful implementation of the ten special initiatives presented their respective success stories in the meeting.
Deputy Commissioner SM Abdul Kader and Superintendent of Police Md Shahidullah addressed the meeting as the chief and special guests respectively with PID’s Deputy Chief Information Officer Shehenur Mian in the chair.
Deputy Principal Information Officer of Regional PID Afrazur Rahman addressed the meeting as focal person. It was also addressed, among others, by Civil Surgeon Dr Kazi Mijanur Rahman, Editor of Daily Sonali Sangbad Liakat Ali and Editor of Sonar Desh Akbarul Hassan Millat. SM Abdul Kader says the present government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been functioning relentlessly for by and large advance in the country.
He mentioned that development achieved in education, agriculture, health, poverty alleviation, social safety-net, power generation, road communication, women and children development, women empowerment, digitisation, ICT and other sectors are now being widely appreciated in both home and abroad.
Besides, he said the present government has attained remarkable success in all development fields and urged the journalists and other stakeholders to put in their collective efforts to uphold the success in the days ahead. Besides, he narrated the huge successes achieved in all sectors in the process of implementing Vision 2021, Charter of Changes and digitization program to accelerate development.
