Hasan Mahmud, chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Environment and Forest, has urged the South Asian civil society to develop mass awareness on regional cooperation on common issues to support the moves on the political front.
He made the remarks on Monday while speaking as the chair of the concluding session of the three-day meet of South Asian CSOs and Parliament Leaders on Strategies towards SDG Summit and CoP (Conference of Parities) 21.
Organized by Beyond Copenhagen and Pairvi of Delhi, the concluding session of the meet was held at Hotel Crown Plaza of Kathmandu, Nepal.
The UN general assembly is going to adopt the Sustainable Development Agenda as the roadmap for the post-MDGs era in December this year and Paris is going to host the 21st Climate Conference of Parties (COP).
The other speakers of the session were the former Prime Minister of Nepal Madhab Kumar and former Energy Minister of Nepal Prakash Sharan Mahat.
