Former captain of Bangladesh Cricket (ODI) team Mashrafe Bin Mortaza came back to training at the BCB-NCA Ground on Tuesday. The cricket icon returned to the cricket after eight months recess due to his injury and coronavirus.
Mashrafe, who is recovering from hamstring injury, did running before he bowled a few overs at the BCB-NCA Ground.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB)’s physiotherapist Tushar kanti Hawlader said, “Mashrafe did work on his own fitness after recovering from Covid-19. He sought to get in shape by shedding weight and I am giving co-operation in this regard.”
He said, “Mashrafe Bin Mortaza bowled four overs on Tuesday with full run-up. I just accompanied him.”
The speedster had last played an One Day International match against Zimbabwe in March this year before he announced that he quit from ODI captaincy.
Though Mashrafe Bin Mortaza was not in the players’ draft for the ongoing Bangabandhu T20 Cup Cricket, the veteran cricket star can still be called up as a replacement by any of the participating five teams.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza bagged 270 wickets playing 220 ODI matches. He captured 78 wickets playing 36 Test matches. He claimed 42 wickets playing 54 T20I matches.
The all-rounder scored 1787 runs in his ODI career, while made 797 runs in his Test career and scored 377 runs in his T20 career. It may be mentioned that he usually batted in lower order.
