A match-winning ton by opener Mehedi Maruf enabled Prime Bank Cricket Club to record an overwhelming five-wicket victory over Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the fourth round super league of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Friday at BKSP ground No 4 in Savar.
The 29-year-old right handed batsman Mehedi hailed from Tangail hit 10 fours and four sixes during his 143-ball stay on the crease and during the process he shared three important partnerships first 115-run second wicket stand with Zakir Hasan (49) then 44-run third wicket stand with Rafatullah Mohammad (24) and again 64-run fourth wicket stand with skipper Asif Ahmed (26) to take Prime Bank at home with 12 balls remaining.
Rubaiyet Haque, Sohag Gazi, Tanbir Haider, Fazle Mahmud and Mehedi Hasan shared one wicket each for Jamal.
Earlier, opted to bat first, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club scored a decent total of 242 for 7 from their allotted 50 overs courtesy half centuries of Tanbir Haider (58) and Elias Sunny (57).
The Sheikh Jamal batting line up saw number of good start but no big scores.
Al-Amin Hossain was the pick of Prime Bank bowlers as he grabbed three wickets conceding 46 runs. He was well supported by Taibur Rahman who claimed two wickets. Mehedi Maruf of Prime Bank was named the player of the match.
