Martyr’s house auctioned in Saidpur, family protests

A human chain along with a press conference was held at Shaheed Dr. Zikrul Haq Road, in front of Saidpur Press Club on Monday to protest the auction of the house of a Martyr’s family.
 People from all walks of life took part in the two-hour long human chain. During the human chain, the President of the Saidpur branch of the Generation of the Children of the Martyr’s organization, Generation ’71, Mujibul Haque spoke there. Abdur Rashid, from Martyr’s family, former councilor of Saidpur Municipality Kabir Uddin Yunus, Mizanur Rahman Liton, Rabiul Awal, Mostafa Kamal, Masudur Rahman Lelin, Bangladesh Hindu, Buddhist, Christian Unity Parishad local Mrinal Kanti Das Mintu and Md. Dulal Pramanik.
 A press conference was held at the invitation of Rashida Begum, daughter of Shaheed Abdul Rahman at Saidpur Press Club.
On March 21, the Pakshi Real Estate Officer and Executive Magistrate of the railway, Nuruzzaman led an operation in Saidpur to free and identify illegal occupants of the railway site. At that time the Executive Magistrate led an operation at that Marty’s house which is under construction and seventy percent work has been already completed. During the operation, the auction of the house was completed in a few minutes. This work has been questioned among the people of the town. At the same time, many have expressed intense anger over this.
At the press conference, the family of the Martyr complained that although the allotment (lease) of the place was shown during the railway operation, the executive magistrate of the railway did not take it into account.
They exercised a lot of administrative power and hastily completed the auction of the steel structure of the house at 6 lakhs, through an immediate auction. At the press conference, a strong condemnation and anger was expressed over the auction of the house of a Martyr’s family. At the same time, it has been demanded that the auction process be canceled.
