Maritime ports asked to hoist signal No 3

The country’s four maritime ports have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number 3 as the land depression over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining area of Bangladesh moved northwestwards further and lies over Jharkhand and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal of India.
Squally weather may affect the four maritime ports Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh as the land depression is likely to move northwestwards further and weaken gradually, according to a special weather bulletin of Metrological Department.
Low lying areas of the coastal districts of Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Borguna, Bhola, Patuakhali, Barisal, Pirozpur, Bagerhat, Khulna, Satkhira and their offshore islands and chars are likely to be inundated by tidal surge of 3-4 feet height above normal astronomical tide.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
