President Abdul Hamid on Friday said the historic March 7 address of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the charter of freedom for the Bangalee nation.
His declaration of “Struggle this time is the struggle for independence” in a thunder voice, which was in fact a call for independence of the country, Abdul Hamid said adding as a sequel to this, the Father of the Nation proclaimed the independence on March 26, 1971.
In a message on the eve of the historic March 7, he recalled Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with profound respect and said the Bangalees have got an independent and sovereign state for the extraordinary leadership of Bangabandhu.
Abdul Hamid said the historic March 7 address of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman would remain a perennial source of inspiration for the nation.
“March 7, 1971 is a memorable day in the history of the Bangalee nation,” the President said adding that the address delivered by Bangabandhu on this day before millions of people at the then Race Course Maidan (Suhrawardi Udyan) ignoring the red-eyes of the then Pakistani ruler would remain memorable forever in the history of the Bangalee nation, he said.
The President called upon the countrymen irrespective of their political affiliations to work together for materializing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Vision-2021 on historic March- 7.
The dream of Bangabandhu to build a ‘Sonar Bangla’ could not be implemented yet. The nation is still struggling against hunger, poverty, superstition and climate change impacts, he said.
The President said all have to work hard to build Bangabandhu’s ‘Sonar Bangla’ through implementing the ‘Vision- 2021’ announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has declared Charter of Changes for making the people happy, he mentioned.
The Bangalee nation secured the much-desired independent and sovereign Bangladesh through the nine-month War of Liberation, Abdul Hamid said.
He said, “For this reason, the March 7, 1971, address is very important for the independence of the country,” he added.
“We must win in this struggle. Bangladesh must be turned into a prosperous country,” the President said.
