Diego Armando Maradona’s team, the Sinaloa Dorados, defeated Ciudad Juarez 2-1 on aggregate on Saturday night and will play for the title of Mexico’s second division. Argentine striker Leandro Carrijo scored on a penalty kick in the 34th for Ciudad Juarez, but Sinaloa prevailed after a 2-0 win at home on Wednesday. Dorados will play against the winner of the series between Atletico San Luis and Atlante. Maradona’s squad suffered its first loss since September 22 and just for the second time since the former star took over as their coach in September, when the team was struggling with just three points after six rounds and at the bottom of the standings. Maradona, who coached Argentina in the World Cup South Africa 2010, posted seven wins, two draws and a loss in the rest of the season to qualify for postseason play as the seventh seed.
