Manpower crisis hits treatment in Sylhet Div

Sylhet Health Department is facing acute shortage of manpower causing sufferings to the people.
According to government statistics , Sylhet district needs 255 doctors but only 164 are working. Same picture prevail in other post such as nurse, pharmacist etc.
Dr M Habbibur Rahman, Civil Surgeon Sylhet said due to vacant post working doctors and nurses are facing problem. But they work hard to serve people.
In Sylhet there are 2 hospitals, 12 Upazila Health Complex, 2 clinics, 25 UP Health Complexes and 75 Union Health Complexes.
According to a statistics of civil surgeon office number of post of doctor is 255 of them 91 is vacant virtually.
Zakigonj is the far area from Sylhet. Taking treatment from Zakigonj is impossible. But infrastructure is not present in Zakigonj.
 Upazila health officer Zakigonj informed there are 10 posts doctor. 5 are working. Post of Junior consultant are vacant. Due to absence of doctor adequate health service is absent. In Complex position they are fail to give patient proper treatment.
Total post of nurse is 217 in Sylhet. But only 146 are present. 71 post vacant. 52 post of Deputy Assistant Community Medical Officer is vacant.
Total post of pharmacist is 50, only 12 are working.
According to Civil Surgeon Office most of the post of junior consultant are vacant. With that acute shortage of nurse is prevail. For this health service hampered.
Civil Surgeon Dr habibur Rahman said at present no of vacant post is decreasing. Those who are unauthorised absent, we inform the ministry and we try to fill the vacant post.
