A man and a young girl were slaughtered at a house in Jasim Bazar area of Saidpur upazila on Wednesday noon.
The deceased could not be identified yet. Police recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital morgue for autopsy.
Quoting locals, officer-in-charge of Saidpur Police Station M Shahjahan said one Shibli Sadique, an employee of a refuelling station hailing from Keraniganj of Dhaka
district, rented the house of one Dr Toufiq Imam two months back.
Sadique’s wife came out of the two-room house around 12:30pm shouting that a double murder took place at their house.
Later, locals went to the house and spotted a man and a young girl lying in a pool of blood, the OC said, adding that they also recovered two bloodstained knives from the spot.
Sadique and his wife along with minor child went into hiding soon after the incident.
Shahjahan said they were yet to know the identities of the deceased and how they came to the house of Sadique.
