A court here on Sunday sentenced a man to death for killing his niece after rape at Char Ishwardia village in Sadar upazila two years back.
The court also fined the convict Saiful Islam, 20, son of Abdul Aziz of the same area, Taka one lakh, said Najesh Ali Mian, Mymensingh court inspector.
According to the prosecution, Saiful raped the minor girl in absence of her parents on January 23, 2015.
Later, he strangled the girl and hanged the body from the ceiling of her house.
After the incident, local people caught Saiful and handed over him to police.
Victim’s father Siraj Miah filed a case with Kotwali police station against Saiful.
After investigation, police submitted charge-sheet against him.
After examining witnesses and evidences, M Helal Uddin, Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, delivered the judgment this afternoon.
