A tribunal here on Monday convicted a man for killing his wife in 2016 and sentenced him to death.
The condemned convict was identified as Akash Alias Mithu, 34, son of Ramjan Ali of Kuthipara village in Alamdanga upazila.
According to the prosecution, Akash married Tahmina Begum in January, 2016 and since then he used to torture her over dowry. On July 14 of

According to the prosecution, Akash married Tahmina Begum in January, 2016 and since then he used to torture her over dowry. On July 14 of
the year, he killed Tahmina slitting her throat.
Later, victim’s father Sabed Ali filed a case with Sadar Police Station. Police arrested Akash the following day.
Law enforcers submitted a charge-sheet against him on October 10, 2016.
After examining the records and witnesses, Chuadanga Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Zia Haider handed down the verdict.
