UNB, Savar :An old man, who received stab injuries in an attack by muggers at Shimul Tala in Savar on the outskirts of the capital on Thursday night, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday morning.The deceased was identified as Shahjahan Ali Khan,63, a senior electrician of Petrobangla local office and a resident of Dagarmora CRP Road in Savar.Sources said, Shahjahan along his son and two neighbours went to Ulail Bazar for buying cattle on Thursday.They, however, left for their homes empty handed finding cattle in the market too pricey.When they reached Shimul Tala, 5/6 armed and masked muggers intercepted their rickshaws and snatched away Tk one lakh and five mobile phone sets from their possession.Being resisted, the muggers hit Shahjahan with sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured.Later, he was rushed to Savar Enam Medical College Hospital from where he was later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning.Mostafa Kamal, officer-in-charge of Savar Police Station, said a case was filed in this connection.
