UNB, Khagrachhari :
A man was shot to death and a girl injured by miscreants at Jurgachhari village in Laxmichhari upazila early Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Joy Kumar Chakma, 48, a shopkeeper, while the injured was identified as Kalpa Rani Chakma, a class X student.
Locals said, some miscreants raided the village at the time when a group of activists of Parbatya
Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samiti (PCJSS) were staying there at about 3:00am.
A chase and counter-chase took place between the PCJSS activists and the attackers, triggering a clash.
At one stage, the attackers opened fire, leaving Joy killed on the spot and Kalpa Chakma injured.
Later injured Kalpa was rushed to Matiranga Upazila Health Complex from where she was referred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. Locals suspect that the attack was carried out by the people belonging to United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF).
