Man shot and robbed in Savar

Unidentified criminals allegedly shot an Italy returnee and grabbed Tk 5.70 lakh from him in broad daylight in Savar’s Vakurta area, adjacent to a police check post, on Wednesday morning.
The victim — Mohammad Amanullah (40), a resident of Karinigonj Bottoli area – has been admitted at Savar Upazila Health Complex with bullet injuries.
Shuma Akhter, the victim’s wife, told the media that a gang of ten people on five motorcycles stopped their taxi cab near a Police Check Post at Vakurta area around 11:00am while they were returning home after withdrawing Tk 5.70 lakh from Islami Bank, Aminbazar Branch.
“They fired about five rounds of bullets at our car. One bullet hit my husband’s left leg. Then they snatched the money from us and ran away,” said Shuma.
Contacted, Saiful Islam, inspector (investigation) of Savar Model Police Station said they did not receive a complaint over the incident yet.
“We will go for action once the victim files a complaint in this connection,” he added.
