A man has been sentenced life term imprisonment in a case filed for raping a child in Ramu upazila of Cox’s Bazar in 2017.
Judge Jebunnesa Ayesha of Cox’s Bazar Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal passed the order on Monday in presence of the convict, Mohammad Islam of Kariyaghona village in Chakaria upazila, said Syed Mohammad Rezaur Rahman, special public prosecutor of the tribunal.
The court also fined the convict Tk one lakh. The convict will have to serve one year more in jail if he fails to pay the fine, the PP said.
According to the case statement, the seven-year-old girl was raped by Mohammad Islam on January 28, 2017.
On the same day, a case was filed with Ramu Police Station against Mohammad Islam in connection with the incident.
