National School Hockey: Al Hikma Muslim Academy emerge champions

Al Hikma Muslim Academy of Rajshahi emerged champions of the First Security Islami Bank National School Hockey Tournament when they beat Jessore Municipal Preparatory School by 2-1 goals in the final at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.
The first half was locked 1-1.
Rocky Alam of Municipal Preparatory School put his team ahead by a field goal in the 21st minute of the play.
After two minutes Abu Saeed of Al Hikma Muslim Academy leveled the margin using a hit of his teammate Sadequl.
After the lemon beak Ahsan Habib of Al Hikma Muslim Academy scored the match-winning goal capitalizing a penalty corner of his teammate Abid Shahriar in the 43rd minute of the match.
Champions Al Hikma Muslim Academy received prize money of Tk 100.000 while runners-up Municipal Preparatory School got Tk 50,000.
Shihab Hossain of Armanitola High School, who scored the tournament’s highest 16 goals, received prize money of Tk 100,000; Tuhin Hossain of same school, who scored the 2nd highest 12 goals got Tk 50,000 while the tournament’s 3rd highest scorer Ahsan Habib of Al Hikma Academy (9 goals) got Tk 25,000 from Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman.
A total of 101 schools took part in the qualifying round matches and 29 teams reached the final round of the knockout system tournament.
Bangladesh Hockey Federation has already picked up 80 players from the meet for a month-long training in Dhaka. Finally, 30 players will be selected for long-term training.
After the final match the prize-giving ceremony was held at the stadium.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder was the chief guest at the prize-giving ceremony while Managing Director of First Security Islami Bank AA Zakaria was the special guest.
President of Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) and Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari, Chairman of ATN Bangla and Chairman of National School Hockey Committee Dr Mahfuzur Rahman, Secretary of the School Hockey Committee Mirza Farid Ahmed, General Secretary of BHF Khaja Rahmatullah were present, among others.
