A young man was beaten to death reportedly by his elder brother over a land dispute at Sheikher Chak area in the city on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Asraful Islam, son of Sanowar Hossain of the area.
Nibaron Chandra Barmon, Officer- in-Charge of Boalia Model Police Station, said that Asraful and his elder brother Noor Alom had been at loggerheads over sharing a piece of land.
As a sequel of the enmity, Noor Alom beat Asraful mercilessly with an iron-rod on Sunday night, leaving him injured.
Later, he was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead on Monday.
Meanwhile, police arrested the accused brother.
Ashraful was immediately rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries this afternoon.
A case was lodged with the police station in this connection, the police officer added.
