A man strangled his three minor siblings and hacked his elder brother at Alukbali village in Narsingdi Sadar upazila on Tuesday night.
The deceased have been identified as Yeasin Mia, 12, Mariam Begum, 6, and Marzia Begum, 3, they were children of one Abul Kamal Mia of the same village.
The killer also hacked his brother Atiqur Rahman, 25, a teacher of Darulsunnat Islamia Madrasa.
Law enforcers detained a 22-year-old Rubel Mia over the murder of his three minor siblings, police said.
Md Salauddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) (Investigation) of Narsingdi Model Police Station, said, “After switching off the power supply, Rubel entered the room of their house where three of his siblings were sleeping and strangulated them to death, police said. “Rubel went to his brother Atiqur, saying that their mother was sick. As soon as they reached in front of the nearby mosque at the village, Rubel hacked him,” the OC said.
Atiqur Rahman has sustained injuries inflicted by sharp weapons while trying to stop his brother Rubel Mia, who killed his three other minor siblings, the police official said. Hearing Atiqur’s scream, locals caught Rubel around 10:00pm and handed him over to police, he said.
“We are investigating the incident,” said the OC.
Locals said, quoting Rubel that he would kill all except father, the police official said. The bodies were sent to the Narsingdi Sadar hospital in the morning, he said.
