Man killed by stepson in city

A man was stabbed to death, for a Smartphone by his step-son in Dhaka’s Dakshinkhan area.
The deceased was identified as Mohor Uddin, 40, a mason from Chorayertek area. son of Mohammad Ali of Kotwali police station area, of Mymensingh district.
The accused, a 15-year-old boy, was on the run after the murder. The incident happened on Friday night. The boy was the son of Mohor’s second wife. They got married a couple of years ago, and the boy lived with them in a rented house at Dakshinkhan.
He was putting pressure on Mohor for a couple of days to buy a Smartphone for him, but Mohor refused, victim’s younger brother Mohammad Ridoy said.
They had an altercation on Friday night as he once again asked his step-father for the phone and was refused.
At one stage, he stabbed Mohor with a knife and fled, he said.
Mohor was rushed to a hospital in Tongi from where he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Mohor was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition around 10:45pm where doctors pronounced him dead, said Bacchu Miah, inspector of Dhaka Medical College police outpost.
Bachchu Mia said the body was kept in the morgue for autopsy.
