Man killed by elephant trample

An elephant trampled a man to death at Anwara upazila in Chattogram on recently.
The deceased was indentified as Akther Hossen, 55, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver from Boirag Union of the upazila.
Sufol Chandra Sinho, sub-inspector of Anwara Police Station, said several elephants arrived at the village from a nearby hill in search of food.
People guarded the village and scared away the animals using firecrackers, he said.
“A herd of elephants attacked the village. When people were fleeing, Akther slipped and fell, and was trampled by an elephant,” SI added.

Floating body of a man
recovered from canal

Police recovered the floating body of a man, aged around 45 years, from Koechiya canal in Satkania upazila of Chattogram recently.
They could not ascertain the deceased’s identity immediately.
Seeing the body, locals informed police, who then recovered it from the canal’s Masterpara part around 10am. They are investigating the incident, police said.
The body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
