Customs Intelligence officials arrested a man along with two gold sticks, weighing 462 grams, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here early Saturday.
Airport sources said, Sheikh Rony Ahmed, son of Aynal Haque of Gopalganj district, arrived at the airport by a flight from Malaysia around 12:30 am. Suspecting Rony’s movement, the customs officials challenged him and recovered two gold sticks contained in bottles of shampoo of Pantene brand after searching his luggage, said Mainul Khan, director general of the Customs Intelligence.
Later the customs officials arrested Rony. The value of the seized gold was estimated at Tk22 lakh.
