A team of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) recovered eight gold bars from a passenger coming from Masqat at Shah Amanat International Airport (SAIA) in the port city on Saturday.
Sources at the CIID said a team of the Customs Intelligence under the SAIA Circle started surveillance after a flight of Regent Airways from Masqat landed at the airport on Saturday morning.
Based on secret information, the CIID team challenged Md Mohiuddin when he was about to leave green channel of the airport at 9:48 am. Primarily, he denied of carrying any gold item.
However, in the face of interrogation, he revealed that he had been carrying eight gold bars, which were hidden inside his rectum, said Director General of the CIID Dr Shahidul Islam.
Later, eight gold bars weight around 934 grams were brought out from his rectum applying special method, he added.
Legal action was taken against him under Baggage Rules.
