Man held with 3.5kg gold at HSIA

Officials of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport seized gold bars weighing around 3.5 kg and arrested one person in this connection on Monday.
Sources at the airport said arrested Mohammad Adam Ali boarded the flight of Bangladesh Biman Airlines as a domestic passenger from Chittagong when it landed in Shah Amanat Shah International
 Airport from Muscat.
When the flight arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, the CIID officials identified Adam based on prior information. Searching his body, the CIID team recovered several gold bars, weighing around 3.5 kg, which was kept hidden inside his belt in a unique way, said Director General of the CIID Dr Moinul Khan.
Mohammad Adam Ali, son of Mohammad Alim Uddin Mandal of Fatikchhari in Chittagong, revealed that he received the gold bars from inside the flight in exchange of money from another passenger named Rahman, who came here from Muscat.
