Man held with 12 gold bars in rectum

Customs Intelligence officials recovered 12 gold bars weighing around 1.300 kg from the rectum of an India-bound passenger at Benapole check post on Tuesday noon.
The arrestee is Mohiuddin Bhuiyan, 33, son of Shahriar Bhuiyan of Boraikandi village of Cumilla’s Titas upazila.
Being tipped off that Mohiuddin was smuggling gold out of the country, a team of Customs Intelligence interrogated him when he denied carrying any gold, said Deputy Director of Benapole Customs Intelligence Saifur Rahman. But, later they took him to a hospital and did an X-ray on his abdomen where the existence of gold bars was detected. Again, he was taken to the checkpost and made to take juice and water whereby the gold bars came out of the rectum. A case was filed and the recovered gold bars were deposited to Benapole Customs House.
