A man has allegedly hacked his wife and four in-laws in Mirzapur upazila of Tangail over a family feud.
Police, however, arrested accused Swapan Mia,24.
The injured are Siraj Mia,60, his wife Jabeda Begum,52, daughters Shila Akhter,20, and Razia Begum,30, and Taiba,3.
Siraj Mia’s elder daughter Farida Begum said Swapan had married a woman before her sister Shila. But, he kept the matter secret.
They couple used to quarrel over the issue as Shila came to know her husband’s previous marriage, she said.
“Siraj also tortured my sister several times due to dowry. We took Shila at our home 20 days ago as the man beat her up,” said Farida.
Sawapan came to his in-laws’ house on Thursday evening and hurled abusive words, she said adding that at one stage, he entered the house and hacked the family members. Hearing the victims’ cry for help, neighbours rushed in and caught Swapan red handed. Later, he was handed over to police.
Mohera UP chairman M Badsha Mia informed Shila’s father complained to him about Swapan’s torture on his daughter.
