A man was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants in Brahmondi area of the district town on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Selim, 65, a resident of the area and owner of a drug store in the locality. He was president of the Narsingdi unit of Bangladesh Chemist and Druggist Association.
KM Abul Kashem, officer-in charge of Sadar Police Station, said a group of miscreants, numbering 8-10, attacked him at a field near his house around 9:30 pm, leaving him critically injured.
Later he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries around 12am.
