A court of Chittagong in a verdict here on Wednesday sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment for killing his elder brother in Chandhanish upazila of the district.
Additional Chittagong District Session Judge Nur-e-Alam pronounced the verdict convicting one Mohammad Ibrahim, for killing his elder brother Ismail Hossain in 2002. The court also fined him Taka 20 thousand, in default, to suffer one year more rigorous imprisonment. The prosecution story is in brief that Ibrahim chopped his brother to death when the victim protested extra marital relationship with victim’s wife at Hasondondi village under Chandhanish upazila on May 19, 2002.
Nurul Islam, father of the victim, filed a murder case with Chandhanish Police Station against his younger son Ibrahim.Police submitted charge-sheet on November 16, 2002 and the court pressed charges against him on March 6 in 2003.The court after examining 12 out of 18 prosecution witnesses pronounced the judgment convicting Ibrahim in absentia, court sources said.
