A tribunal here on Wednesday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment as he abducted a schoolgirl from Launchghat area of district town in 2012.
The convict was identified as Sheikh Khalek Morshed, 29, son of Ifitkhar Rasul of Alekanda area in Barishal city.
Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Sheikh Md Tofayel Hasan handed down the verdict while Morshed was present on the dock.
The court also fined the convict Tk 20,000 or three months more rigorous imprisonment in default.
