The left hand of a balloon seller was blown away from wrist and another one was critically injured due to a cylinder explosion in the city’s Kachu Patti area near the bank of the Buriganga River at Shyambazar on Friday morning.
The victims have been identified as Fariduzzaman, 35, and Abdur Rashid 45, police said.
Quoting the witnesses and doctors, Khalilur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sutrapur Police Station said that Fariduzzaman’s hand was blown away in a blast around 9:15 am, while he was blowing balloons, and another balloon seller Rashid was also injured in the incident. They were rushed to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) instantly.
