A man with his two minor daughters committed suicide by electric shock at a rented house near Ranimarket, Kamrangirchar in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.
The victims have been identified as Babul Mia, 50, his daughters Jannati, 12 and Meem, 9, police said.
Sheikh Mohsin Alam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kamrangirchar Police Station said that Babul might have committed suicide, wearing electric cables, with his two daughters over family feud.
The bodies were tied with electric wires in the close-door flat of the house, the police official said.
“Babul was mentally upset as his wife divorced him few days ago. He tried to commit suicide several times,” he said.
The motive for suicide will be clear after autopsy,” the OC said.
The bodies were sent to Salimullah Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.
A case was filed in this connection, the OC further said.
