A man was chopped to death allegedly over his wife’s extra-marital relationship at Godaghata village in Sadar upazila early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Abul Hasan,45, son of late Yusuf Ali of the same village.
Golam Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station, said Safia Khatun, wife of Abul Hasan, developed an extra-marital relationship with one Jewel, a resident of Protapnagar village in Ashashuni upazila, recently.
When Hasan came to know about the incident, he had tried to prevent his wife Safia from the relationship.
Jewel chopped Hasan indiscriminately with sharp weapons when he along with his family members was sleeping at his house at about 3:00 am, leaving him dead on the spot.
The victim’s 10-year-old son Mintu said he identified Jewel while he was fleeing the scene after killing.
The OC said the extramarital affair is most possibly a reason behind the murder.
