A man was chopped to death by some miscreants in Underchar area of Sahebrampur union in Kalkini upazila of the district on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam Shikder, 45, son of Saleman Shikder, a resident of the same area.
Police sources said the miscreant called Kalam from his house at night and chopped him indiscriminately.
Critically injured Kalam was sent to Madaripur Sadar Hospital where on duty doctors declared him dead.
Police arrested five persons for interrogation, said officer-in-charge of Kalkini Thana Kripa Sindhu.
