Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Monday expressed his optimism that the Malaysian labour market will reopen soon for Bangladeshi workers.
Replying to a query about reopening the labour market, the Foreign Minister said, “I am hopeful because I found the visiting Malaysian Human Resources Minister positive.”
After a meeting with the visiting Human Resources Minister of Malaysia M Kula Segaran, the Foreign Minister told journalists that the Malaysian Minister will have discussion in details with Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmad in this regard.
The meeting was held at Foreign Ministry in Dhaka.
Dr Momen told the Malaysian Minister, “You will be a hero here if you declare opening of your market for Bangladeshi workers.”
Dr. Momen also said that they discussed bilateral trade and investment issues in the meeting.
The Foreign Minister invited Malaysian investors to invest in Bangladesh, which offers investment friendly environment including necessary facilities in Bangladesh Economic Zones and Sectors.
Sources said that, the Malaysian Minister will met with Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmad and other officials of the Ministry today.
